More Than a Salon: Why Supporting Small Businesses Matters in Kitsap

One of my favorite things about owning Seaport Salon & Spa is watching the relationships that are built here every single day.

Of course, we love helping people feel beautiful and relaxed, but over the years, Seaport has become so much more than appointments on a calendar. It’s become a space where people catch up on life, celebrate milestones, process hard seasons, laugh, vent, and take a moment to breathe in the middle of busy lives.

And honestly, I think that’s the beauty of local businesses.

As a small business owner here in Kitsap, I know firsthand how personal these businesses really are. Behind every local coffee shop, boutique, salon, restaurant, or spa is a person (usually many people) pouring their heart into creating something meaningful for their community.

That’s especially true in the beauty and wellness industry.

When someone comes into Seaport, I never want them to feel like they’re just another appointment rushing through the day. I want them to feel welcomed, cared for, and comfortable enough to fully relax while they’re here. We’ve worked really hard over the years to create an atmosphere that feels calming from the moment you walk through the doors.

I think a lot of us are craving that these days, places that feel slower, more intentional, and more connected.

There’s something special about knowing your hairstylist remembers your vacation plans, or your esthetician asks how your daughter’s soccer season is going. Those little moments matter. They turn businesses into community.

Supporting local businesses also means supporting the people who live right here beside us. It keeps our Kitsap communities vibrant and unique, and it helps create opportunities for families, creatives, and entrepreneurs to continue doing work they love.

As a business owner, I never take that support lightly.

Every appointment booked, product purchased, review shared, or recommendation made means more than most people realize. It allows us to keep showing up for this community and continue creating a space where people can relax, recharge, and feel taken care of.

So if you’ve supported Seaport over the years, thank you. Truly.

Small businesses are built on relationships, and we wouldn’t be here without the incredible community around us.
